Remove the toilet pan. Further information on how to do this is widely available on DIY websites such as this from B&Q
https://www.diy.com/ideas-advice/how-to-remove-a-toilet/PROD_npcart_100815.art

Remove the toilet pan connector from the back of your toilet (the toilet pan connector is approximately 4” diameter, white with a black rubber sealing ring).

Remove the black rubber sealing ring from the existing pan connector or your new pan connector.

Remove the MultiFlap valve from its packaging and push it onto the pan connector. On the lid of the valve you will find the word “top”, this should be positioned so that the lid opens in an upwards fashion to allow full discharge when the toilet is flushed.

When fitting to a vertical pan connector ensure the lid opens with the flow of any bends.

Re-fit the toilet as you would normally, the MultiFlap valve will seal all pipes just like a standard non protected pan connector.

Remove the drain cover. When fitting the valve, we would recommend hosing or pouring one or two buckets of water down the catchment to remove any sewage left in the chamber before fitting.
Flush your toilet and take note of which way the flow of water travels, looking for the last outlet the water travels though.
Place the MF-3 flap first (taking care that the hinge for the flap is at the top) into the 4 inch pipe the water has travelled into i.e. the discharge pipe.
Push the MF-3 into the pipe as far as it will go
Now the valve is in place, gently push open the flap to ensure there is no resistance and the flap closes when released.
Replace the manhole cover – you are now protected!
Place the MF-3 flap
Push the MF-3 to secure
You are protected!
